The Linn County Sheriff's Office reported deputies were involved in a pursuit of an assault suspect just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
"The evening before the victim reported to deputies she was punched and threatened with a machete by the suspect, Aaron Halvorson, 44, from California, while they were camping at a location on Quartzville Road," the sheriff's office said.
Halvorson had left the campsite before deputies arrived.
Wednesday morning, a deputy looking for Halvorson located him driving a 2000 Lincoln Navigator with California plates.
The deputy attempted to stop Halvorson near Hwy 20 and Weirich Cut-off.
"Halvorson failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated," LCSO said. "Deputies continued to follow the vehicle and were able to successfully deploy spike strips east of Lebanon, flattening three of the four tires on the Lincoln Navigator. Halvorson continued to elude at low speeds, circling back into Lebanon where he eventually stopped and was taken into custody on Crowfoot Road."
Halvorson was lodged in the Linn County Jail on charges of Felony Attempted to Elude, Reckless Driving, Criminal Mischief I, Assault IV, Menacing, and Unlawful use of a Weapon.
Lebanon Police Department assisted in the pursuit.
