Coronation Street revealed the outcome of Phill Whittaker and Tyrone Dobbs' fight over Fiz Stape's affections in tonight's (May 25) episode.
Phill's secret – that he had been researching Fiz's serial killer father for a book he was writing – has been exposed, leading Tyrone to think that this was his chance to win Fiz back.
Both men ended up embarrassing themselves at Phill's house, as an argument between them led to them both falling into some wet cement.
Phill scrambled through the cement, desperate to find something: an engagement ring.

While Ty tried to tell Phill that it was pointless as Fiz had already "binned [hin] off", Phill was adamant that he still wanted to propose, and that the ring belonged to his grandmother. Ty eventually helped him find it, although he was still convinced Fiz would never say yes.
After stripping off and hosing each other down, Phill went to Fiz's, telling Ty that he was going to apologise and draw a line under the whole thing so everyone could move on with their lives. But when he got there, he ended up getting down on one knee and popping the question.
"We've been through so much together, I can't bear the thought of us leaving it like this," he said.

"I didn't know what love was until I met you. Every time I looked at you, my heart stick skipped a bit, which is not good for someone my age... I can't believe I've gone and ruined something so special."
"At least you didn't chuck me away for someone else," Fiz retorted, prompting him to show the ring.
Perhaps surprisingly, Fiz actually said yes. Was she just caught up in the moment, or will she really go through with it? Tyrone is obviously hoping it's the latter, as he could barely contain his disappointment when Fiz and Phill told him the news.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
