How Low Can The Water Level Go?

As wet as our Spring has been the drought out in the west continues. Water levels continue to fall and the extreme temperatures and lack of rain or snow over the winter have again put everyone on notice that the shortage of water remains a huge issue. Lake Mead is at it’s lowest level on record and is the nations latest reservoir. Lake Mead, which provides water to roughly 25 million people in Arizona, Nevada, California and Mexico, is currently operating in a Tier 1 shortage, which began in January. Under Tier 1 conditions, Southwest states saw mandatory cuts in the water they could consume from the Colorado River. Those cuts have primarily affected agriculture. They’re even finding old sunken boats because the water levels are down so far. Just another affect in the battle against climate change.
