This is Kaepernick’s first workout with an NFL team in years.

Kaepernick, a former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, last played in the NFL in 2016 when he took a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality. In 2017, he opted out of his contract to become a free agent.

That same year, Kaepernick met with the Seattle Seahawks; however, the team passed on him.

In April 2022, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis said in an interview with NBC Sporta Bay Area that he believes in Kaepernick.

“He deserves every chance in the world to become a quarterback in the National Football League,” Davis said. “I still stand by it. If our coaches and general manager want to bring him in or want him to be the quarterback on this team, I would welcome him with open arms.”

Last month, Kaepernick said in an interview he would be willing to talk on a backup QB position if that helps him get his foot in the door.

“So, yeah, if I have to come in as a backup that's fine, but that's not where I'm staying,” he said. “And when I prove that I'm a starter, I want to be able to step on the field as such. I just need that opportunity to walk through the door."
