“The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,” says he will fight one more time by the end of 2022.
Retirement in MMA is as flakey as that one friend who you always can’t count on, but at the age of 47, Tito Ortiz can see the end coming, and he plans on fighting one more time by the end of this year.
Can’t go out on a loss
In a recent interview with The Schmo, he guaranteed a fight by September or October.
“I’m 47 right now, I won’t be 48 until next year. I feel good. I feel strong. I just started training this week. I’ll fight one more time this year, before the year is over,” Oritz said. “I want not to go out the way I did with Anderson [Silva], and it will be an MMA fight. But like I said, I just started preparing this week. I’ll be getting ready here for the next four months and we’ll see, you know, maybe September or October. Another Tito Ortiz [fight] in the cage….but I guarantee I’ll be fighting for the years over.”
The former UFC light heavyweight champion wouldn’t specify what promotion he is currently talking to, but he said potential states could be Florida or Arizona.
Ortiz is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Anderson Silva. The pair of former UFC fighters boxed in the co-main event of Triller’s Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort card.
In MMA, however, Ortiz is riding a three-fight win streak with wins over former WWE wrestler Alberto Del Rio, Chuck Liddell, and Chael Sonnen.
