Colleton County High School senior Tre’Veion Shamar Magwood has announced his plans to attend Georgia Knights Prep in Snellville, Georgia. Georgia Knights Academy was founded in 2017 and offers the opportunity for student-athletes to participate in collegiate sports while pursuing a two-year college degree. The Knight’s schedule is designed to give players exposure for recruitment by four-year colleges while not losing any NCAA eligibility. Magwood started playing football in second grade. He was a three-year varsity letterman for the Cougars and spent his freshman season on the junior varsity. His primary position was running back, and he was named the Most Improved Player in 2021. He was recruited as a wide receiver for the Georgia Knights. According to Magwood, his decision to commit to the Georgia Knights was based on several factors. “I wanted to go somewhere out of state in order to see new things and meet new people,” said Magwood. “I was primarily recruited through Twitter, but the conversations and Google Meets I had with the coaching staff made me feel comfortable. “I would like to thank God, my parents, and my coaches, especially Coach Howell and Coach Singleton, for everything they have done for me throughout these four years,” said Magwood. “I want to give my all in everything I do at Georgia Knights Prep to thank my parents for dedicating their time and money into football for me. I plan to bring my happy spirit, work ethic, and dedication to the team.” Magwood states academics was the most important part of his decision to attend JUCO program. “I am blessed to have the opportunity to continue my athletic and academic career at the great Georgia Knights Prep Academy,” said Magwood. “I want to succeed, learn new things, and meet new people. Glory to God for allowing this all this to happen.” Magwood is the son of Chavaughn Geathers and Lawrence Burden, and stepdad Frankie Geathers. He plans to pursue a degree in sports management.
