Motorcyclist seriously injured in Manchester crash

MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTNH) — A motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash in Manchester Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Around 2 p.m., police officers and fire personnel were dispatched to the area of Center Street and Henderson Road for a crash with injuries.

Responding personnel found a vehicle and a motorcycle were involved in the crash, according to police.

Police said the motorcycle operator, a 22-year-old man from Ellington, was given emergency medical care on scene and later taken to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

Police said the operator of the vehicle involved, a 48-year-old man from Manchester, was uninjured and is cooperating with the investigation.

According to police, the preliminary investigation showed both the car and the motorcycle were traveling west on Center Street just before the crash, but the chain of events leading up to it are undetermined at this time.

The Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit and the Metro Traffic Services Crash Reconstruction Team are investigating the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has additional information is asked to contact Officer Konrad Rozwadowski at (860) 533-8620.
