Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Emmerdale has revealed the outcome of David Metcalfe's marriage proposal to Victoria Sugden.
The couple have seemingly been struggling ever since returning to screens this spring after a lengthy hiatus where they were looking after Diane Sugden in Portugal.
In Wednesday's (May 25) episode, Eric Pollard warned David he was moving too quickly — accusing him of "wild abandon" and flinging "offers of marriage around like birdseed".

"All I'm saying is slow down," Pollard encouraged him.
Pollard then laughed off David's insistence that Victoria is "the one", but was nonetheless forced into watching the shop while his son picked up Vic's engagement ring.
Victoria definitely wasn't feeling the same, leaving her uncomfortable when David set up a grand romantic gesture to propose under the gazebo.
When David dropped to one knee and asked for her hand in marriage, a stunned Victoria could only ask: "Are you completely mad?"
Victoria felt like the grand gesture was a "stunt" to prove they are a "hot young couple" like Ethan and Marcus, though David was insistent he'd only wanted to show Vic how much she meant to him.
"This? Five minutes after we said we were happy as we were? It's like you haven't listened to a word I've said, or you have, and you've chosen to ignore it to do exactly what you wanted to do anyway," Victoria vented.
When David apologised and said all he wanted was to be with Victoria, she admitted she's having second thoughts because "it shouldn't be this hard".
"Give me some space," she asked.
Victoria later confided in Amy that she feels like she and David are "obviously on very different pages". When she visited David at the shop, he admitted the proposal had been another of his "blundering mistakes".
"You were the one thing I thought I got right," he confessed.
He encouraged Victoria to have a "long, hard think" about what she actually wanted, leaving her with questions about the couple's future.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and streams on the ITV Hub.
