Two Hall Co. GOP state house races decided; two heading to runoff

Emory Dunahoo and David Clark, two incumbent Georgia lawmakers, came out on top in their respective state house races, but two other districts appear bound for a runoff.

Incumbent State Rep. Emory Dunahoo defeated Jackson County School Board Member Don Clerici in the race for Georgia State House District 31. He faces no Democratic challenger in November.

Dunahoo, the current representative from District 30, had to run in the new district because of the recent reapportionment process, which saw him drawn out of his current district.

According to his campaign websites, Dunahoo is a businessman and entrepreneur who has lived in Hall County for the past 53 years.

The other GOP candidate, Don Clerici, is a businessman and Jackson County school board member. He has lived there for nearly two decades, according to his campaign website.

In the GOP primary for House District 100, incumbent 98th district Rep. David Clark will advance to the general election after beating Rep. Bonnie Rich.

Rich, a two-term Republican representing the 97th, was drawn out of her district by the once in a decade reapportionment process. She served on the committee which drew the lines.

Clark, who previously said he would not run for reelection, chose to run for the newly redrawn 100th. He will face Democrat Louisa Shell Jackson in November.

Districts 28 and 30 are in runoff territory with no candidate above the 50.1% threshold.
