The future of a local inn is in doubt following a May 23 fire. Andrei and Larissa Elizacov are Ukrainian immigrants who have owned Beach Cove Waterfront Inn in Boothbay Harbor since 2006. The couple is still grappling with the fire’s aftermath and aren’t sure what the future will bring. “Sir, it is so hard now to talk. We are still in shock,” Andrei Elizacov said Wednesday morning, May 25. “We don’t know what will happen with insurance and we don’t know how the fire started. Once we have all the information then that will be a better time to talk.”

In a press release, Maine Department of Public Safety reported owners had planned on reopening the inn later this month.

“Nobody has any idea what happened. We are still waiting for results. After that, we will see what insurance will pay,” Andrei Elizacov said. “The gentleman from the insurance company told me once the debris is gone then the investigation will start.”

On May 24, Maine Department of Public Safety reported due to the extensive damage investigators hadn’t determined a cause.
