Hancock County Sheriff’s Office makes 3 arrests involving firearm seizures

Carthage, Ill.-  The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has announced three separate arrests all involving the seizure of firearms.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at about 2:51 AM a Sheriff’s deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for expired registration. The driver, 26-year-old Lance Hocker of Fort Madison was arrested for Driving Under the influence.  A 9mm Beretta pistol was located in the vehicle and Hocker was subsequently charged with Unlawful Use of Weapon.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, at about 5:42 PM the Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a domestic disturbance on Co Rd 1100E near Co Rd 800N.

Deputies responded and were advised that a male subject had left the scene in a vehicle. The male who was identified as 29-year-old Brandon L. Bough of Basco also allegedly had four children in the vehicle with him when he left. The children’s ages ranged from 11 years old down to 16 months old.

Deputies located Bough and he was subsequently charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. A Hi-Point 9mm pistol was discovered inside the truck and Bough was subsequently charged with Possession of Firearm by a Felon. The children were taken into custody by the Department of Children and Family Services.

On Saturday, May 21, 2022, at about 10:53 PM the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing juvenile from Hamilton, IL. Later, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at approximately 4:32 AM the juvenile was discovered at a residence near Nauvoo, IL.

The juvenile was in the company of 19 year old Niccolo L. Moylan of Burlington, IA. Moylan was in possession of a Springfield 9mm pistol. Moylan was subsequently charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapon. The juvenile was returned home safely.
