The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office is warning the public of someone spoofing their dispatch number and claiming they are a Pottawatomie County Lieutenant.
The sheriff's office says there is a caller identifying themselves as Lieutenant Strand, saying the person they are calling has a warrant out for their arrest. The person will also receive text messages from the number.
"It was determined it was no one with our office and whoever made the call masked their number, with our dispatch number," The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office said in their Facebook post. "We have made no calls of this nature, nor will we ever. Especially when it involves a victim in a case."
If anyone has received a phone call from someone they feel is portraying to be a deputy, they are asked to call and make a report by calling dispatch at (405) 273-1727.
