With summer break nearing, kids will soon have weeks of free time on their hands. Are you looking for things to keep your kids active this summer?
Have your child experience summer at Camp Oscar. June 1st is Public Camp Day for Atkinson County. The day is for Upcoming 1st - 8th Graders in Atkinson County schools.
Katie Antczak, the new Environmental Science Education Coordinator/RESA Consultant at the Okefenokee Swamp Park, has planned camp days for Atkinson and surrounding counties.
Kids will have the opportunity to explore and research the wilderness of the Okefenokee Swamp. Your child will get to experience what it means to be an advocate for the conservation and sustainability of one of the most spectacular places on Earth, Atkinson County schools says.
The camp will be located at Okefenokee Swamp Park, 5700 Okefenokee Swamp Park Rd, Waycross, GA 31503.
Atkinson County Schools will provide transportation to and from the park or parents may deliver their child(ren) to the park. If your child will be riding the bus students will meet at Pearson Elementary School at 8:15 A.M. If you are bringing your child to the park, students will check in at 9:00 A.M., at the gift shop/ticket booth location.
The cost is $5.00 + tax (Atkinson County is paying the remainder of the fee); must be paid online in advance.
The school will be providing sack lunches to participants.
Students will arrive at Pearson Elementary at 3:45 if they ride the bus.
Students being picked up by parents will be back at the gift shop/ticket booth location at 2:45 P.M.
The park recommends campers bring a refillable water bottle, sun protection, and bug spray.
Parents and others may choose to visit the Okefenokee Swamp Park on June 1st and pay the regular admission price. However, since this is a camp setting, parents will not be actively involved in the same camp activities as their child(ren).
Atkinson County is only providing transportation. Camp Oscar is an off-campus camp and is not affiliated with the Atkinson County School System. The Okefenokee Swamp Park provides their own teachers and chaperones.
This one-day camp is limited to the first 60 students who complete the registration and pay the $5.00 +tax fee.
