Cimarron man killed in Tuesday night crash near Plains

PLAINS -- A Cimarron man died Tuesday night after his car struck a semi at a highway crossing on the west edge of Plains in Meade County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported Peter Krahn, 21, of Cimarrron, was southbound on Fourth Road in a 2004 Chevy when he failed to yield the right of way at the intersection with U.S. 160.

Krahn’s vehicle collided with a westbound 2022 Peterbilt truck driven by Bevan L. Becker, 28, of Montezuma, hitting the semi at the fourth axle of its trailer.

Krahn, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, where he died. Becker, who was wearing a seat belt, was not hurt.
