It’s a scene you wouldn’t expect in the Beaverdale neighborhood of Des Moines.Someone's horses broke free near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and Prospect Road Tuesday.The horses held up traffic and caused quite the commotion on the street before they were rounded up."To be honest, I did not know that horses lived in Beaverdale or anywhere near Beaverdale, so it was definitely a surprise to me," Riley Bacon said. "It was more like ‘Am I seeing what I'm seeing right here? Are there really horses on MLK?’"The city of Des Moines tells KCCI that, in most cases, horses are not allowed in city limits, but there are exceptions to the code for certain uses and property types.Other headlines:
