Louisiana man facing life behind bars after armed robbery conviction

17th Judicial District Lafourche Parish

LAFOURCHE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – It took one hour for a jury to find Michael Lee Sr., 40, of, Thibodaux, guilty of Armed Robbery.

The armed robbery took place in October 2019 at a residence on Woodland Dr.

Lee Sr. was accused of knocking on the door and entering without permission.

“When one of the victims answered the door, Lee forced his way into the home holding a knife,” according to the Lafourche Parish District Attorney.

The 40-year-old was able to make off with some money.

An investigation by the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office ensued and Lee Sr. became a suspect in this case.

Lee Sr., was eventually captured and admitted to the armed robbery.

“Everyone has the right to feel safe in their own home,” said Assistant District Attorney Heather Hendrix, who prosecuted the case. “This act of violence committed by the defendant violated that sacred right. I pray this conviction gives the victims some peace of mind.”

Lee Sr. was found guilty after a one day trial on Tuesday, May 24, and will remain behind bars until sentencing on July 20.

The Lafourche Parish District Attorney says that “since Lee was convicted of Armed Robbery, he now faces a minimum sentence of 10 years and up to a maximum sentence of 99 years without the possibility of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.”
