Cut Bank High School junior Emma Momberg gives it her all last weekend at the Divisional Softball Tournament in Great Falls. 

The Cut Bank/Valier Lady Wolves are headed to Lewistown this weekend for the State B/C Softball Tournament as the fourth seed from the Eastern Division. The Lady Wolves went 2-2 at last weekend’s Divisional Tournament in Great Falls, defeating Huntley Project and Glasgow while falling to Shepherd and Conrad. 

The Lady Wolves opened the weekend with a 10-0 dismantling of Huntley Project. Makenna Burke was in the circle for Cut Bank and struck out 14 batters while giving up just two hits in the win. 

Kinley Kovatch and Madison Weikum led the Lady Wolves at the plate with two hits apiece. Kovatch notched a triple and a single while Weikum added two doubles. Burke also hit a double while Kenzie Stiner rounded out the hits with a single. The Lady Wolves had 18 stolen bases in the win. 

The Lady Wolves then faced off with Shepherd and dropped the contest 4-1. Burke had another 14 strikeouts but walked seven batters and gave up six hits in the loss. 

Stiner led Cut Bank at the plate with two singles while Weikum added a double. Loni Orcutt, Haylee Fetters, Emma Momberg and Reagan Wetzel each hit a single in the loss. 

The Lady Wolves bounced back in a loser-out game with Glasgow, taking the game 6-3. Burke tallied 13 strikouts while giving up five hits and a walk in the win. 

Stiner and Fetters each went 3-4 from the plate with Fetters smacking a pair of doubles along with a single. Stiner hit three singles in the win. Weikum kept her double streak alive, adding two more to her weekend total, and Orcutt hit a triple and a single. Wetzel rounded out the Lady Wolves’ hits with a single. 

In a battle for third the Lady Wolves came up short, falling 13-9. Cut Bank led 6-0 after the second inning and held a slim 9-8 lead entering the sixth inning. Conrad tied the game at 9-9 heading to the final inning and the Lady Wolves were unable to score while Conrad put up four runs to take the win. 

Burke struck out 13 batters but gave up 13 hits and four walks. 

Weikum and Wetzel each had three hits to lead the Lady Wolves. Each hit a double and a pair of singles in the win. Stiner, Fetters and Momberg each had two hits in the loss. Fetters tallied a double and a single while Stiner and Momberg had a pair of singles. Burke hit a double while Kovatch, Aubrey Bowers and Addison Bengtson each hit a single in the game. 

The Lady Wolves will face off with top seeded Florence/Carlton on Thursday at 2 p.m. The winner will advance to take on the winner of Columbus and Manhattan Friday at 10 a.m. while the losers will face off at noon on Friday.
