Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette made history for more than one reason; as well as being the first openly bi-sexual lead, the premiere episode also received the lowest ratings ever.

But, despite the grim viewership stats for her season, Blurton still wants to return to the franchise, this time as a co-host.

“You know what, call me anytime Osher,” she told Yahoo! Lifestyle. “If you need a co-host, I’m your girl.

“I haven’t had success yet! Maybe I can be the pessimist. Maybe he’s really about love and I’m like, ‘Look, guys, it may or may not work. Like, 50/50. If you need a shoulder to cry on, my shoulders are big enough’.”

Blurton told the publication that she thinks the new season should update it’s format in order to attract more viewers.

“People won’t know this, but I have a lot of ideas around the franchise,” she says.

“I think it could be doing more. I think my season only kind of scratched the surface with what it’s capable of doing in terms of what it could address, the conversations it can have, and what it means for people who watch The Bachelor.

“Because it’s a bit outdated, let’s be honest.”

Blurton also said that she made suggestions for her own season of The Bachelorette, but they weren’t fulfilled.

“Some of them weren’t executed due to Covid, but I’m really hoping that Covid doesn’t have an impact on the next season because I think it can be great,” she continues.

“I said, ‘Change the location to a place where it’s so much more enjoyable’. I even suggested Western Australia because it’s so isolated and it’s also beautiful weather the majority of the year.

“So the fact that they’re taking it to the Gold Coast, I’m so here for it. Because when you’re freezing your little bum off in the middle of winter at these cocktail parties and you are breathing frozen air, no one wants to watch someone be cold. People want to watch people living their best lives, warm and sunbaked.”

“If I didn’t have so much responsibility and so much weighing on my season, I think I would’ve taken a bit of a different turn with a majority of the contestants living in the same house for a bit of drama,” she laughs. “That’s my selfish side! Like, if I was on the outside not doing it, then yes, go for it.

“But I already had so many so much anxiety and so much pressure for it to be a successful season so I just wanted it to just roll out exactly how I pictured it.”

Blurton starred as The Bachelorette in 2021 and, along with being the first openly bi-sexual lead, she had the first mixed-gender cast too. Blurton gave her final rose to Darvid Garayeli, however the couple broke up shortly after the season aired.
