After reading the May 18 Chronicle article, “Meadowcrest to fight affordable housing complex,” clarification is needed. The residents of Meadowcrest understand the need for affordable housing, but any such housing needs to be built in an appropriate location complimentary to the existing developed area.

What residents are organizing against is high-density, multi-story rental units on a parcel of land not designated or compatible for that purpose. The enormous scope of the proposed project is not only completely out of character with the existing neighborhood, it is unprecedented for Crystal River.
