May 25, 1961 — The Stanley baseball club defeated Edinburg in the opening of the Massanutten League Sunday, 9-7, as Howard Painter, fast right-hander of the Stanley team struck out 16 batters.
The game was played at Stanley. Edinburg collected nine hits to Stanley’s seven.
Alvin Richards drove in five runs for Stanley during the afternoon. Richards drove in three runs with a double and two more with a single.
