ROSELAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The South Heartland District Health Department has long serviced the counties of Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster.

SHDHD has requested a small portion of the communities ARPA funds (3.7%) to support local community health initiatives. They want to expand behavioral health services as well as develop a Mobile Public Health Services Unit.

Tuesday, SHDHD was able to test out their mobile services in Roseland.

There was a mini-health fair for seniors that included fall prevention screening, COVID tests, COVID vaccines, information on West Nile, blood pressure checks referrals to community-based prevention/management programs and more.

“We decided to test out our ideas of having a mobile services clinic and we don’t have the vehicle yet because we don’t have all those funds, but to just test out what it would be like to come to a small community and bring some services,” South Heartland District Health Executive Director Michele Bever said. “See what they wanted, see how we could fill their needs and bring things to them.”

Even though Tuesday was geared toward seniors, Bever stated that future endeavors will reach any population that have a hard time gaining access to resources in the district.
