The Bexley Farmers Market kicked off its 12th season May 19 and continues every Thursday through Oct. 20.

The market is held 4-7 p.m. at South Dawson Avenue and East Main Street. COVID-19 pandemic protocols have been lifted after being in place the last two summers.

This season features 25 vendors, with items ranging from organic fruits and vegetables to local honey, meat, eggs, bread, pastries, jam, pasta, flowers and crafts. There also is live music.

Kyla Touris, a Bexley resident and proprietor of Sweet Thing Gourmet, which offers biscotti and jam, said participating in the market for the past several years has enabled her to develop a loyal customer base.

“It’s fun to come back every year and see people and families,” she said.

Touris said that although she participates in other markets, the welcoming atmosphere at the Bexley Farmers Market is a major factor that keeps her coming back.

“It’s a solid, community feel,” she said. “And very supportive.”

Matt Merritt, proprietor of Microgreens and Mushrooms, said this is the second year that the produce vendor has participated in the market.

“We had a great time last year – a lot of really good return customers. We’ve had a lot of consistent customers, too,” he said. “It’s a nice community, nice setting.”

Merritt said the market enables him to connect with people who share an interest in organic produce.

“This year, we’ve already seen all of our regulars and we’ve seen a bunch of new faces,” he said. “People seem to be more and more passionate about eating good food - local food – so the community interest is there. If the interest is there, I’ll come and bring my stuff.”
