Aynor town manager arrested on DUI charge after May 7 crash

AYNOR, S.C. (WBTW) — Aynor Town Manager Lonnie “Tony” Godsey was arrested May 7 on a DUI charge following a single-vehicle crash on Enoch Road near Highway 319, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Godsey, 51, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet and was alone at the time, SCHP said. He is charged with driving under the influence and having an open container of beer or wine in a vehicle, according to online booking records.

Troopers responded about 12:11 a.m. to the crash, which happened while Godsey was driving north on Enoch Road. The SCHP said his car went off the left side of the road, hit a traffic sign in the median and crossed over Highway 319 before going into a ditch.

Godsey was released from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on bond the same day he was booked, jail records show.
