(Avoca) Wednesday night on KSOM it’s AHSTW at Harlan in softball.
The Lady Vikes and coach Trevor Gipple are excited for a challenge against a larger school. “I love our non-conference schedule and putting the girls to the test, getting that pressure out of the way early. Harlan obviously has a great reputation, a very good coach, and an awesome pitcher in Tianna Kasperbauer.”
After winning 15 games last year, their most since 2008, the team is looking forward to picking up where they left off. “I think we are more than ready. We definitely need to get those in game reps and shake off the nerves and get rid of the anxiety. Just play some ball this first week and grow from the good things and the bad things.”
Coach Gipple says all three pitchers have done a good job of putting in work during the offseason. He’s also anticipating the offense will produce. “I think being the second year inside our system offensively I hope and I look forward to what our bats can do and what we can do on the bases. Not only in the long ball game, but you have to play short ball too.”
Wednesday’s game will be available on 96.5 KSOM and can be watched on our video stream: Western Iowa Today Live Video
