Multiple apartments damaged, one injured in early Tuesday western Columbia shooting

A shooting early Tuesday in western Columbia resulted in one gunshot-related injury, as well as damage to multiple surrounding apartments and vehicles, the Boone County Sheriff's Department reported. 

The call came in at about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday in the 4400 Block of West Bellview Drive off of Scott Boulevard. 

Deputies determined it was a likely firefight with evidence there were shots coming from two different directions and multiple firearms used

The department received multiple calls about the shooting in the Bellview Subdivision. 

Deputies did not locate the person who was injured but later learned they were transported to a local hospital by a private vehicle. The male, adult victim had non-life-threatening injuries, the department reported.
