What Is John Illsley's Net Worth In 2022?

At the ripe old age of 71, Illsley's back with a new book and album, but just how much is he now worth?

Dire Straits are one of the world’s best-selling bands, and came out with some of the most popular rock hits in British history, including ‘Sultans of Swing’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, and ‘Walk of Life’.

John Illsley was central to that iconic sound as the band’s bass guitarist. Now, at the ripe old age of 71, he’s back with a new book and album, and fans want to know just how much he’s worth after a career in the limelight.

What Is John Illsley’s Net worth?

As of 2022, John Illsley has an estimated net worth of $5 million (£4 million), according to Idol Networth

In 2018, Illsley graciously accepted the induction of Dire Straits into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, beating Radiohead out of the longlist. It’s a serious achievement - even Dolly Parton turned down the honour because she felt she hadn’t earnt it!

Illsley’s autobiography, called ‘My Life in Dire Straits’, came out last year, and included some great gossip for rock fans, including how he was asked to headline Live Aid, and the story behind the cameo of Sting on ‘Money for Nothing’.

The four Grammys, three Brit Awards and two MTV Video Music Awards were clearly not quite enough for Illsley.

Away from Dire Straits, he has an impressive solo career, with eight studio albums and two live albums. His 2022 album is simply called ‘VIII’, featuring nine great tracks, reflecting the Straits classics with his own personal spin.

Illsley splits his time between a home in Hampshire and southern France with his wife Stefanie and four children, including Harry, who is just starting out in music too.

John Illsley’s favourite spot is undoubtedly the small pub he owns in rural England, called the East End Arms. He knows the regulars by name. Think it’s worth a trip for that pint!
