Monstrous Tornado Rips Through the South Plains

 

MORTON, TX – A massive tornado ripped through a small rural town in West Texas on Monday night.

The tornado touched down between Morton and Pep at around 7:30 p.m. The storm swept through the area moving east to around the Muleshoe area.

The storm cleared at around 10:43 p.m.

During the storm the Hockey County Sheriff's Office responded to a number of calls to assist people.

  • Power line down north of FM 1294 on Alamo Rd.
  • High line pole down near FM 303 and Spain Rd.
  • FM 2306 west of US 385 a single residence damaged, no injuries reported.
  • FM 597 west of FM 1490 power line down.
  • FM 303 at Lamb County line a vehicle under water, no injuries reported.
  • FM 303 at Brazil Rd barn damaged, no injuries reported.
  • FM 303 at America are power pole down.
  • Five Mile Rd at France Rd power line down.

More and more damage is being discovered this morning.
