Sharp-Eyed Sheldon Officer Spots Stolen Car Leading To Arrest Of Minnesota Couple

Sheldon, Iowa — A Minnesota couple were arrested after a car reported stolen in that state was spotted at a local motel Tuesday morning.

According to Sheldon Police, one of their officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Rock County, Minnesota. The vehicle was parked outside the Sheldon Motel, prompting officers from the Sheldon Police Department, O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol to set up surveillance on the vehicle.

According to authorities, sometime later Sioux County deputies secured a search warrant for the vehicle and the motel room the pair were occupying, and the couple were taken into custody.

Sheldon police identify the couple as Sanisidro Rocha and Patrice Rocha, of Worthington. Both subjects were transported to the Sioux County Jail at Orange City, since the motel lies just west of the O’Brien-Sioux County line in Sioux County.

According to authorities, both Rochas face charges of 2nd Degree Theft, which is a Class D Felony, as well as Possession of Paraphernalia, which is a Simple Misdemeanor.
