A Liverpool fan who refused to accept various hefty cash-out offers on a bet for the Reds to win the quadruple, has now been paid out thanks to Dimitar Berbatov.

Tanya Hanley has hit headlines after placing her first ever bet, which had odds of 3,671/1, for Liverpool to win all four major trophies available to them.

The feat has never been done before by an English club but Tanya "just had a feeling they were going to do it" and put £100 on a slip.

Had Jurgen Klopp's side been able to pull off the unprecedented achievement, she would have won a whopping £367,200.

Prior to the pulsating Premier League season finale, Tanya was offered two cash out offers - rejecting £22,712 if she was to cash out and then also turning down £35,000 just 30 minutes before kick-off.

Then, as the drama unfolded, £62,371 was the figure proposed at half time, with Manchester City losing 1-0 to Aston Villa and Liverpool drawing 1-1 with Wolves.


That was rejected and so too was a mammoth £95,000 sum with 20 minutes left, mere moments after former Reds midfielder Philippe Coutinho had doubled Villa's lead in shock fashion at the Etihad Stadium.

Tanya stuck to her guns but unfortunately for her, City struck three times in five minutes to win a fourth Premier League title in five seasons and end Liverpool's quadruple dream.

She was poised to end up with nothing but then Berbatov, a man who once scored a hat-trick for Manchester United against Liverpool, stepped in.

With the situation going to 'VAR-Batov', the Bulgarian decided that it was only right that Tanya received the final cash out offer in full.

"I saw the news about Tanya the Liverpool fan," the Betfair ambassador said.

"I've been speaking to the people at Betfair and the final Cash Out offer in the 92nd minute was £1,125.

"Given how close Liverpool came and how incredible that bet was, it’s only fair that they pay that final offer out to her!"


Tanya will now have a nice fee to go towards on a holiday she had been planned.

Liverpool can still end the season with a treble if they beat Real Madrid in Saturday's Champions League final in Paris.

The six-time European champions won both the Carabao and FA Cup trophies after defeating Chelsea on penalties at Wembley.
