Police-Involved Shooting Reported In South Jersey: Prosecutor

The shooting occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24 at the Dollar General Store on the 700 block of South New Road in Absecon, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Jalal Whitted allegedly fired a shot inside the store before police arrived, sources told BreakingAC. He reportedly was wounded by police.

Per the New Jersey Attorney General Guidelines, the Attorney General’s Office has been notified and members of Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit are on scene.

There are no preliminary investigative results to report, including suspect information or related injuries with the exception of no reported injuries to any police officers at this time.
