A man has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his brother Monday in Pike County, Kentucky, troopers said.

Cody Cantrell, 36, of Elkhorn City is accused of fatally shooting his brother, Adam, during an altercation among family members, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police.

Troopers said Cody Cantrell was initially in an altercation with his father that resulted in the altercation and shooting death of his brother.

Cody Cantrell, who also suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound during the altercation, fled the scene and was taken into custody shortly after, the news release said.

He is charged with one count of murder and one count of fourth-degree assault.
