Katie Maloney-Schwartz is revealing new details about her split from Tom Schwartz following the Vanderpump Rules couple’s announcement several months ago that they were separating, with Katie officially filing for divorce.

Katie recently opened up about the split on an episode of Dear Media’s Relations--t podcast, via E! News, saying, “You sit around and wait for someone to start behaving differently or act right. And then it’s just like, why am I sitting, hoping, and waiting for something like that?”

She later added that although the pair had been candid about their plans to start a family, as fans saw during Season 9 of Vanderpump Rules, she realized her needs weren’t “being met,” while Tom was also not taking initiative to change, as she stated in the interview, “Like, these kinds of behaviors are hurtful to me, and nothing’s changed.”

Katie also shared on the podcast that despite their relationship struggles, she and Tom remained close and had even made the decision to split custody of their two dogs. “We still do things together,” Katie said in the interview, adding, “We have some of the same group of friends, and we have dogs that we’re gonna split custody of… He’s family to me, and I’m always going to love him, so our friendship is very important to both of us.”

Speaking of their four-legged best friends, Katie and Tom previously gushed about their love for their dogs, Butter and Gordo VonFriendenheimer, and how they had formed a bond with them like never before amid the pandemic. “We spend so much great time together,” Tom said in an exclusive interview with Bravo Insider. “Not to mention, gourmet dinner and snacks every day. They were our companions, though, you know, when things were at their worst. They were always there for us. They brought us a lot of joy this year.”

The pair have also shared the most adorable photos of their beloved pooches on Instagram, with Tom remarking on how much love he and Katie have for Butter and Gordo VonFriendenheimer in the caption of one post, writing, “They bring us great joy every day.”
