‘People don’t just disappear’: Family asks for help to ‘Bring Terry Home’

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Kentucky State Police is asking for the public’s help locating a missing man.

Gordon “Terry” McKinney, 54, was reported missing by his family who has not seen him since May 6.

“His brother, Shannon, he had gone up there on Friday,” said sister-in-law Patty McKinney. “That was the last time one of the family members saw Terry.”

McKinney was last seen in the Harold community of Floyd County, near the Toler area. His family has since been searching for answers.

“They just sit and wait. And it’s an everyday thing. They get up, there’s no new news. There’s nothing,” said Patty.

He is described as a white man with brown hair and blue eyes, 5′8″ and 210 pounds. He drives a vanilla-colored KIA Soul, license number ALB-185.

“I get out, I show his picture, I talk to people, and every day you wake up and there’s nothing. It’s just a waiting game,” said Patty.

The family says they smallest thing could be useful and they hope anyone with information will consider reaching out.

“You see these things happening to other people and you don’t think that it’s gonna happen to your family,” said Patty. “It’s devastating. People don’t just disappear.”

Though a previously-planned search was canceled, the family hopes to reschedule it in the days to come, saying new information provided in the investigation warranted a shift in the plan. Patty said the growing hillsides and more make the search harder.

“We have been using drones. There have been drones in different areas,” said Patty. “Everything is so thick right now reason it’s just really hard.”
