- Cris Cyborg hinted at her interest to take on the winner of Julianna Pena vs. Amanda Nunes
- The reigning champ is eager to prove that her win over the Brazilian was not pure luck
Shortly after the UFC announced the highly-anticipated rematch between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes at UFC 277, Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg shared her take on the matter. From the look of it, it appears that the former UFC title contender wants to have a piece of the winner.
Cyborg makes her pitch
Commenting on an ESPN MMA’s UFC 277 post, Cyborg boldly suggested taking on the “winner” between the pair.
“Cyborg Vs. The Winner,” she wrote.

Pena is focused
Indeed, Cyborg’s interest is not something any fighter could just disregard. However, Pena seems solely focused on beating Nunes once again. “The Venezuelan Vixen” wants to shut down naysayers claiming her win over the Brazilian was just a stroke of luck, saying people would have to watch her “do it again the second time.”
Looking back, Cyborg already had her shot at the title during her UFC days, having faced Nunes at UFC 238 in 2018. However, the KO artist failed to dethrone her compatriot and suffered a first-round KO punch instead. The devastating loss to Nunes remains Cyborg’s lone defeat since parting ways with the UFC in 2019.
Now that she has earned a title of her own at Bellator, it would be interesting to see how the UFC would take her case this time around.
UFC 277 is set to take place at American Airlines Center in Dallas on July 30.
