UPDATE: Remains identified as missing Floyd County man

54-year old Gordon McKinney went missing May 9, 2022

Update from May 31, 2022:

HAROLD, Ky. (WTVQ) – It wasn’t the news anyone wanted confirmed, but it came on Tuesday.  Kentucky State Police say human remains found in the Prestonsburg-area of Floyd County on May 25, 2022, have been positively identified as 54-year old Gordon McKinney, who went missing from the Harold community on May 9, 2022.

Investigators say the cause and manner of death are still under investigation.

McKinney’s remains were found in the Levisa Fork River.

HAROLD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing person in Floyd County.

KSP was contacted on May 12 about a missing Floyd County man. State police say an initial investigation found that 54-year-old Gordon McKinney of Harold was last seen on May 9 in the Harold Community of Floyd County.

He is described as being 5’8″, 210 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes.
