Tavern trouble isn't unique to La Salle. Two Peru bars, next-door neighbors, in fact, got visits by officers in recent days.
Saturday morning at about 1:30, police were called to Edge's Tap at 1805 Fourth Street to look into a battery complaint. After checking it out, police arrested 49-year-old William Sparling of Peru on that charge. He was released with a June 27 court date.
The next night … and right next door … Peru police went to Spike's Tavern and charged 19-year-old Morgan Cox of Utica, a minor, with loitering in a tavern. Officers also cited 30-year-old Brittany People of Spring Valley with allowing a minor to loiter.
