Tarrant County Criminal Court No. 10 Judge Phil Sorrells earned the county's GOP district attorney nomination Tuesday night, defeating Texas Rep. Matt Krause (R-Fort Worth).

Current Tarrant County District Attorney Sharon Wilson opted not to run for another term this year.

Krause conceded the race just after 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Krause has served five terms in the Texas House, while Sorrells has spent 25 years in his post and worked as an assistant district attorney before becoming a judge.

Krause is running on his conservative record in the House, while Sorrells is emphasizing his experience in the justice system.

Sorrells also received the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
