Yaruta struck a tractor-trailer that was making a left turn onto Blades Lane, police said. The 52-year-old Baltimore driver, was was left uninjured, didn't see Yaruta because he was driving without his headlights on, according to police.

Yaruta and his passenger were subsequently thrown from the bike. His passenger, who fled the area on foot, has not been located, police said. Yaruta was a father of three "and friend to so many," according to a Facebook post.

"Yaruta also Left behind 3 dogs that will need to be adopted," another Facebook user said. "We don’t want to see them get put down because of the breed and the situation."

Yaruta's organs will also be donated, according to a GoFundMe organized in his name.

"Over the next few days arrangements are being made for up to 8 families to receive his organs," his daughter Alissa wrote on the campaign page. "My dad will potentially save 8 lives!"
