JAMESTOWN – A 45-year-old Jamestown man is accused of seriously injuring a man by shooting him in the face with a paintball gun containing “hardened projectiles.”

City of Jamestown Police responded to a West Third Street address around midnight Monday for the reported assault.

Following a probe into the incident, police allege that Grant Monroe shot the victim multiple times at point blank range in the face with the paintball gun full of the “hardened projectiles.”

The 46-year-old male victim, police say, sustained serious injury to his face. He was taken to UPMC Chautauqua Hospital for treatment.

Officers arrested Monroe a short time later. He was taken to city jail and charged with first-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
