PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police say there were several injuries after a truck crashed into a school bus in Tacony.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. Tuesday on Torresdale Avenue at Knorr Street, not far from the Tacony Library.

Surveillance video sent to Action News showed a pick-up truck run a red light and crash into the side of the bus.

The driver does not appear to stop. The truck also side-swipes several other cars after hitting the bus.

Chopper 6 over the scene showed the small school bus with front-end damage.

"I just heard the crash, came out and seen somebody had hit a bus. My dad went out there and made sure no kids were hurt," said James Osuch of Tacony. "From my experience, cars do run a little fast around here. They like to eat the lights. We need to slow it down."

Police say several children were transported to the hospital, either with minor injuries or as a precaution.

The company transporting the Delta School students, Total Transportation Corp., declined to comment.

Alina Berrios, owner of Body Reflection on Torresdale Avenue, said, "This is like a third or fourth incident of people going around a school bus and innocent children getting hurt. We need to put a stop to that. We put our trust in school buses to take our kids from home and school. It's unfortunate that this happens."
