BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Most people don’t try and convince an officer that they’re on drugs when trying to get out of a traffic stop.
That didn’t stop a Bellingham man from trying that exact method last week.
Court documents state that a Whatcom County Sheriff’s Deputy pulled over a car near the Guide and W Axton Rd around 7pm on May 17th.
The driver, later identified as 31-year-old Cheyenne Damien, repeatedly lied to deputies about his identity.
As he was being taken into custody, Damien faked a seizure and told deputies that he had swallowed “about 25 or 50” fentanyl pills.
EMS crews determined that Damien’s signs were normal, and there were no signs of him overdosing.
He was transported to the ER as a safety measure, where hospital staff also confirmed that he was bluffing.
Damien faces several charges, including several warrants for failing to register as a sex offender.
