Tucker Carlson Mocked for Telling Democrats To 'De-Escalate the Rhetoric'

Fox News' host Tucker Carlson has faced ridicule online after he called for the Democrats to dial down their rhetoric.

During his show on Monday night, Carlson played a clip of former Fox News reporter Carl Cameron, who spoke on CNN on Saturday.

Cameron said that Carlson had been "screaming fire in a crowded movie house".

"The fact of the matter is, if you disturb the peace by starting a riot in a movie theatre, the cops are going to arrest you and you might end up in jail or you might end up in something worse," Cameron said.

"That kind of stunt absolutely has to stop. Whether it is the anti-trust bill to take down and de-platform people who lie and put out falsehoods that cause damage and violent hate, there ought to be something done about it.

"The administration is beginning to make a move on that, it has been way overdue," he said.

A video clip of Carlson's reply to Cameron's statement has begun to go viral on Twitter and has been viewed over 580,000 times.

"'Wind up in jail or maybe something worse.' What is something worse? We are not sure what something worse is," Carlson said.

"It certainly feels like we are moving toward it at a very high speed at this point. That is the endpoint, to talk like that, something worse."

"Because rhetoric has its own internal logic. You have experienced it, you can talk yourself into things, we have all done that.

"What [Democrats] are talking themselves into right now is 'something worse', it is scary.

"It is time to pull back, it is time to de-escalate, otherwise this is going to get really ugly, really soon."

Introducing his next guest, Fearless host Jason Whitlock, Carlson warned the Democrats' rhetoric could get worse.

"It is just funny how the hive feeds on itself and all of a sudden 'you are a white supremacist,' becomes 'you're a Nazi, you're Al-Qaeda', becomes 'you are a felon, you're a non-person,'" Carlson said.

"You get pretty quickly from there into 'we need to kill you.'"

As Carlson's response began to go viral, other Twitter users took aim at the Fox host and questioned whether he should also tone down his rhetoric.

"Has Tucker Carlson ever watched Tucker Carlson?" Atlantic reporter Molly Jong-Fast tweeted.

Comedian Maz Jobrani issued a similar tweet and wrote: "Deflect much?" while sharing the video.

MSNBC's Mehdi Hasan simply tweeted: "Amazing. Seriously. Amazing."

Dr. Jorge A. Caballero, co-founder of the volunteer organization Coders Against COVID, defiantly wrote: "I'll de-escalate when he's fired. Not a minute sooner."
