So I know there was one post already related to this but no solution in that thread has worked, nor has any solution posted on various websites.

I wish I could just disable LG IMS as the frame work contributes to features of my phone I simply don't use, however I cannot find the place to do so nor the IP type most websites tell me to. Like I said I have a Stylo 4 so that may be the issue.

I also doubt it has to do with any particular app as a factory reset did not fix it.

I am at my wits end so either a detailed guide for disabling it or any other fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to add what worked for my V20 on Mint mobile. It seems to be the most common fix, go to Settings->Apps&notifications -> app info -> three dots -> Show Sytem -> com.lge.ims.rcsprovider -> storage -> clear data, I did same for app LG IMS. I did that a couple of times with restarts in between, but still no luck. I then turned off wifi, turned off data, and repeated the steps, no pop up, it worked, then I turned WiFi and data back on. Its been working a good 12 hours now without the stupid message. I suggest to try this several times if it doesn't work the first time.

Thanks to everyone helping with this issue, thought I would finally have to get a new phone, but now I'm thinking ill get at least
another year out of it.

I have an lg k40 and have this problem also. It's 4 years old running version 9. Last update
May 21 2021. Cannot be updated. Carrier is Metro.
Was wondering if the newer OS like 11, 12 are also affected?

Android Central Question

What the hell is going on with this LG ims crap popping up every few seconds-

I cannot get rid of the LG IMS issue that started last night- its interfered with everything i could possibly have attempted to use on my phone today!

Is this just an evil way of forcing people to buy a new phone- because I've tried everything except tossing it in the garbage!

This thread highlights the reason why I always keep a backup phone set up with my main Google account, the exact same account as on the phone I'm currently using. Everything's synced to the cloud so no matter what happens to my main phone, I just swap a sim card into the backup phone and I'm good to go.

I know lots of folks trade old phones in, or use a phone till it dies, so no good as a backup, but I'd strongly recommend keeping a working backup phone around. I like to use Moto phones... they're cheap on sale, durable, and it's easy to stick one in a drawer and just charge it occasionally. I also turn my old phone into a backup when I get a new one, if my old one still has enough battery life left in it to be useful.

Unfortunately for folks that have a backup LG phone they're in a bad position. This is definitely an unusual situation though, it looks like when a phone maker closes down their phone division, it might be good to stay away from their phones.. even on sale, and if you have one get prepared in case it quits. I was tempted to try an LG Wing because of the cheap prices, but I didn't trust LG to keep it running, or having a carrier kill it off.

I do believe there are laws in the U.S. that are designed to stop companies from selling products right up till they announce they're going out of business/stopping production, and then immediately dropping all support for the product though, basically rendering it useless. They have to support it for a certain amount of time after the last model was officially sold. That's how it works with cars, and I assume most other products should be similar.

You are Not changing the IP ADDRESS, you would be changing the IP VERSION from 6 to 4 , or the reverse. Some phones do not have this capability, but that's not going to fix it anyway. The only thing that has reliably been reported is:
Settings - General - Apps & Notifications - App Info - three dots on top right - Show system. Scroll down to com-lg-ims-provider (whatever) CLEAR DATA then FORCE STOP.
That works, nothing else has been reinforced as working. and SHUT OFF the WiFi until this issues is resolved. It's part of the problem.

Dude, I DO KNOW that I am NOT changing the IP address. The change was made on the IP protocol version used. Never have I mentioned anything about IP address, ever. I don't know where you've got that from. Dude, did you actually read my post (which you quoted)? In my post I said I was confused (at first) about how to get to the IP version option because when I tap on [IMS Setting], the page that opened up did't show any option. It only showed the text [Slot - 0 : TMO / US]. The page with the option to change the IP version only showed up after I tap on that text. I was not confused about IP address vs IP version!

As to the fix that you insist as the "only thing that has reliably been reported"? Yea, I tried that and it didn't work for me (and it doesn't work for many people from what I have read here and elsewhere). The fix in my case was changing the IP version also after I had cleared the data and cache for [com.lge.ims.rcsprovider].

I just got my LG V60 working by turning on Wifi, make sure it's connected to a network, go into settings, network and internet, Wifi calling then change to Wifi preferred and Wifi calling on, then turn the Wifi connection off.

So just a heads up some fixes only work with certain android versions. wife's phone did not start the issue untill today mine was yesterday, mine (android 8.0) is "fixed", hers (android 9.0) nothing seems to work.

So please be specific when reporting fixes that have worked for you.

I took the sum card out of my LG G8 using android 10 on mint mobile which used tmobile that was having the ims problem. I put the sum in my old LG V20 I use on my duo drone. The V20 still has Android 8.0. No IMS errors. The phone dials out...i guess I'll just use this phone till this problem is fixed.

I also took my wife's SIM card out of her phone which is on totally wireless... Uses Verizon network..and put it in my G8... No IMS errors or stopping... So it is definitely tmobile problem with lg phones...but mostly tmobile
