PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - A homicide suspect allegedly tried to run from police Tuesday night but ended up in custody anyway.

Pueblo police say they chased 36-year-old James Tafoya along Fountain Creek before arresting him for first-degree murder, prohibited use of a weapon, vehicular eluding and obstructing government operations.

Tafoya was wanted in connected with a man found dead in an east Pueblo neighborhood Monday. Police say they were called to the 1500 block of La Crosse Avenue on just after 4:30 p.m. Monday for a body and found the victim deceased on scene. It’s unclear if the body was found outdoors or inside a home.

Police have not confirmed how the victim died, other than it was a homicide. He was identified Tuesday evening as 51-year-old Anthony Valdez.
