Jackson Co. Sheriff captures burglary suspect

UPDATE: According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the burglary suspect deputies were searching for has been captured. Deputies have Dallas Eugene Harmon in custody, according to the sheriff’s office.

JACKSON COUNTY (KSNT) – Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse issued a warning Tuesday morning for residents to be on the lookout, lock their cars and remove keys from their vehicles.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, a burglary suspect was on the loose near 102nd and E. Road, south of Delia.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office said they were notified by neighbors of a burglary in progress at 2830 102nd Road south of Delia around 8:30 p.m. When deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers arrived the alleged burglar fled into the woods.

Just before 2:20 p.m. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office informed the media the suspect had been captured.

During the search for the suspect, authorities said the suspect managed to return to his pickup truck, parked on the property, and nearly struck a Jackson County Deputy and a Kansas State Trooper. The man then ran into a field.

The search continued until approximately 4 a.m. Tuesday.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jackson County deputies and detectives located the suspect about one mile south of the Jackson County line on Capper Road.

Harmon is being booked for the following charges: two counts of aggravated assault of law enforcement officers, two counts of burglary and theft, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.  Harmon was also wanted on a full-extradition warrant of the State of Colorado.
