Parents with children with food allergies in New Jersey are getting more desperate to feed their babies in the midst of the formula shortage.
Six-week-old Maxton Mitchen has an allergy to cow milk as well as breast milk. Finding any "Puramino" amino acid based formula he needs has been a difficult task for his mother.
She has a suitable replacement thanks to a donation from a Wisconsin food bank, but it has been two weeks and she's now out of food for her infant.
"I just keep telling myself I'm not gonna run out. I'm crazy. I'll do what I have to do to find it. You cannot not feed your baby," says Francesca Mitchell.
She is hoping for relief from the recent shipment that was delivered to the United States from overseas over the weekend, but the 70,000 pounds of specialized formula is going directly to hospitals, doctors and pharmacies.
