pleasantville-3

Due to inclement weather in the forecast today, Pleasantville’s softball squad opened the season with a 9-2 loss at Chariton, while the baseball squad will go on the road for the first time this season.

The Trojans’ softball squad dropped a tough loss on the road at Chariton. Pleasantville struggled on both the offensive and defensive side of the field. Malorie McKinney was the lone spark for Pleasantville at the plate, hitting a two-run home run that mustered Pleasantville’s only runs of the night. The Trojans mustered two runs on five hits, while pitching surrendered nine runs on 13 hits. Pleasantville will be back in action for another non-conference showdown against Pella Christian Wednesday.

The Trojans’ baseball squad will travel to North Mahaska for their second game of the season. Pleasantville lost their season opener against Ankeny Christian last Monday despite a great pitching performance from Jake DeJode. The Trojans have won the last five games over the Warhawks, including winning 13-7 last season.

First pitch at North Mahaska begins at 6:00 PM.
