Excuse us while we enter total fangirl mode. Léa Seydoux and Kristen Stewart have taken on the Cannes photocall scene in a flurry of Louis Vuitton and Chanel, and the internet (OK, us) doesn’t quite know what to do with itself.
The images that emerged from the Crimes Of the Future junket spell out boss bitches, thanks to Stewart’s Charlie’s Angels-esque jumpsuit and tinted sunglasses, and Seydoux’s equally retro tailoring. It takes guts to pull off a floral tie with a boxy shorts suit, but that’s pas de probleme for the perennially cool French actor.
The Bond girl’s corporate cool look comes from Nicolas Ghesquière’s youth-infused Louis Vuitton autumn/winter 2022 collection, in which the designer muses on the freedom of adolescence. Seydoux’s nostalgic separates hark back to afternoons spent rifling through the attic in search of grandpa’s old silk ties and wearing them with the swagger of a teenager. On Léa, this somehow translates as subtle sex appeal, because of the head-up-shoulders-back confidence with which she wears her Vuitton. If only we all looked like that in one-size-up blazers.
Léa is bang on trend with her tailoring. Power shoulders are in for next season, as well as paintbox brights (think Valentino’s PP Pink or even louder) and sporty silhouettes (Adidas X Gucci is the team to play for). Forget the runway images and make Seydoux and her Cannes coconspirator, Kristen, your suiting pin-ups. It’s all about attitude, attitude, attitude – and learning how to Windsor knot well.
