‘This Is Us’ Star Chrissy Metz Speaks Out About a Potential Spinoff

This Is Us may be ending, but could a possible spinoff series be on the horizon? Actress Chrissy Metz—who plays Kate Pearson on the show—sure thinks so.

The 41-year-old actress attended a private screening of the series finale in Los Angeles over the weekend. Metz exclusively spoke with Entertainment Tonight about her interest in a potential spinoff.

“Who doesn’t love a spinoff? And I think that there’s a lot of potential for all of it,” she said. “So who knows? In maybe a year or two, somebody misses somebody and somebody writes something. But yes, [there's] a lot of potentials, I feel.”

She continued, “Listen, everybody’s like, ‘Where's the spinoff? Where’s the movie? Is there a musical? What's happening?’” Metz added. “I’m like, ‘All of the above!’ I don’t know, we’ll see.”

While a movie has not been confirmed, This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman shared that he is open to doing a movie in the future. “Sure. If we could figure out a movie down the road, I’d love to get back together with these guys and do it,” he said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

He doesn’t know what the central narrative would be, but Fogelman does have a few ideas in mind. “I don’t know what that would be. By the end of this season, I think we’ll have told the complete story, so, I’m not sure,” he added. “If you’re doing the movie of, like, what would happen if Jack survived the fire or something, but I don’t know…”
