Diaz pitches Bayonne past Union City - Softball - Hudson County Tournament semifinals

Gabriella Diaz pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out seven, walking one and hitting two batters to lead top-seeded Bayonne to a 4-0 victory over fourth-seeded Union City in the Hudson County Tournament semifinals at Veterans Stadium in Bayonne.

Bayonne (24-4), winners of nine straight games, plays Weehawken in the final on Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Thomas M. Gerrity Athletic Complex in Jersey City. It is Bayonne’s third consecutive trip to the title game.

Caitlin Gaetani was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored for Bayonne. Alyssa Urbanski went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored, and Nayah Diaz added two RBI.

Kimberly Velasquez struck out two for Union City (15-10), allowing two earned runs on four hits and four walks.
